Lead Boron polyethylene
Lead loaded Boron polyethylene is a composite material which combines lead, boron and polyethylene to achieve effective shielding against mixed neutron and gamma radiations.
The hydrogen content in polyethylene will thermalize fast neutrons which makes them easier to capture. The boron content is effective in capturing thermal neutrons thus preventing neutron buildup and reducing secondary radiation. Lead as a content provides shielding against primary gamma radiation.
This product is offered in different lead and boron concentrations to protect against specific radiation flux.
Lead Boron Polyethylene is used as interlock shielding blocks at radiation therapy rooms, in neutron instrumentation in nuclear power plants. Also used as protective equipment in hospitals, spacecraft shielding, satellite components and radiation monitoring systems.
It is available in various forms like slabs, bricks, cylinders, rods and tubes custom molds available for application specific shielding requirements. Neutron Absorption, Gamma Radiation Shielding, Chemical Resistance, Tensile Strength and Flexibility, Thermal Stability, Moisture resistance, High Density.
Attributes:
